4 out of 5 stars wish it had restaurants, but besides that awsome product   March 7, 2010

i got this stereo not to long ago. the first stereo i bought would freeze every morning so i had to restart it everytime. but since i bought it from an autorized pioneer dealer i was able to return it and get a new one. the one i have now works great. i am able to detach the face whenever i am leaving my car unatttended, one of the main reasons why i got this model. the price is also a plus. the sound quality is great, pioneer never fails in that department. only stereos i buy are pioneer, same with speakers. the ipod control is so fast when looking for songs or artists. it even has a button that links the song to artist, album or whatever. its awesome when ur drivering and feel like listenning to that same artist. i havent used the bluetooth. ive used the gps. works pretty good. i so wish it had restaurants and gasoline stations. the display color is changeable, although im not sure how to ucustomise a color to match my interior lights. later on im thinking about upgrading to a pioneer with gps and a dvd player.

There are enough reviews already listing the pros and cons of this unit, I won't rehash them here. What I will point out is my biggest peeves.

Pioneer recently released a new firmware with appears to have fixed a lot of the Bluetooth lockup problems. However, the firmware didn't address any of the many other issues. The most annoying for me is the delay in navigation prompts. When I am using the navigation, I would literally drive just past my turn before the voice prompt comes on to direct me to turn. This is entirely unacceptable as it makes the driver focus on watching the map rather than the road. If you are still considering this unit, think carefully if you will need POIs because if you need real POIs, then you will have to budget in another $99 for the POI SD card. Pioneer really tried to screw us with the POIs!

I really like this unit. I did the Firmware update as soon as I got it so I don't know if this solved a lot of the problems people were talking about. Also mine was made on August 2009 so maybe I received a better microphone because it works great. I have had no problems with this at all. One annoyance is that the contact transfer from my phone (LG Rumor2) shows all contacts as cell phone number even though in my phone it shows House or cell phone. May just be my phone. I am not sure I don't have that many contacts so I went in and adjusted my phone book to say the name and what it is. To everyone having trouble read the book completely this will solve problems like changing the color and getting everything just right. There aren't very many points of interest but as long as you have the address you can find just about anything. Every address I have typed in has been found. I had trouble at first but I wasn't scrolling down to additional choices. I centered my GPS antenna on the dash until I had the most signal. It seems to be very accurate compared to my old system that I had to hook on to the dash. I am going to put my old gps in the glove box and when I travel and need to find something very bad I can pull it out and find it on there. I have a Sandisk USB and it works fine with this unit. I have my whole music collection on this (8GB drive). The cd player worked fine I used it a couple of times but will probably not use it since I have all my music loaded into my Flash Drive (wont Skip). I haven't had it skip in this unit but in my factory radio they would every once in a while. I like using a flash drive because when I get new music I can update it and don't have to burn another CD or worry about there being problems with them scratched. Also hooked up my Sirius Radio through the AUX jack and it works great. I like it this way so that I can control it on a separate unit that I can take in the house and use. This way I don't have to pay for two radios. The reason I chose this unit was for security purposes so I can take it off with me and not have to worry. Also entering information into it in the house is nice. I don't have an IPod so I can't comment on that end of things I have a Zune. I was concerned about purchasing this because of the reviews but I am very happy with this. I really think the Firmware fixed alot of the problems.

Hi there, I just wanted to say a few words about this unit. It is a great unit for the money and great for someone that doesn't need video playback ability. Installed into my Dad's Kia Rondo with Ease. He loves the Navigation system, and also loves the fact that he can take the faceplate off for security reasons when parked in Manhattan.
